Our year started in festive style with our annual ski pilgrimage to the Alps at our regular apartment in Belle Plagne. This year we were joined by two new members to our ski house party, Constance for her first ski holiday and Ed’s cousin, Martin who set the pace on the slopes for us all. Made an offer they couldn’t refuse from their Grandad and Grandma Bell, Jessica and Naomi started snowboarding lessons! Jessica took to it like a penguin to ice. Naomi a little longer, but by the end of the week both agreed their skiing days were over! Alison was back on the slopes after a gap year having Constance, taking a more leisurely pace boarding this year with Ed. Fe and Indi were the speed king and queen of the slopes! With Iona and Rowan not far behind!
In May we all met up again at the Forest of Dean for a cycling holiday. Our new caravan provided a great venue for Naomi’s 9th birthday party. July saw us travel to the Isle of Mann for Louise’s wedding and in August a week in West Wales was followed by Cornwall where Grandma and Grandad Bell joined us camping. We had a great time, visiting Eden and watching a musical at the outdoor Minnack Theatre. Its been a year of wildlife, we’ve seen harbour seals in the Isle of Mann and Newquay, basking sharks but our highlight was a family of otters in the River Tor. We felt privileged to see such rare and shy creatures. Its been great having so many holidays with our extended family, and that we all enjoy each others company. We’ve had weekends away throughout the year, including visits to Fe and Indi, Will and Liz, Bill and Jill, Melanie and Gail. We’ve been regular guests at Gill and John’s. Gill is an excellent cook, combined with John’s fresh produce we are very well looked after.
