Our garden birds go from strength to strength. Ed has been busy building his flock over the past year. We now have 8 chickens, numerous quail and 4 turkeys (although by the time you read this they may await the table!)
2006 has proved to be a fantastic year for Smale & Minett Valleys Produce. With intense competition coming from Bernard Matthews and many other illustrious food company’s, our operation has thus far grown. Chicken and quail egg sales hit the £60 profit mark as early as September (Ed has since retired). Also we have added free range Bronze turkeys to our diverse organic range of products. Given that each bird was to be sold at a handsome price, profits for the year looked like hitting the £200 pound mark. However, after a brutal and unexpected dog attack one frosty morning, I’m sad to say that two of our precious flock were viciously murdered. A moments silence please..Tina and Tessa (the turkeys) RIP.

But it was worth all the hard work, on Christmas day turkey ted was unanimously pronounced "turkey delicious"!
